RESPONSIBLE SOURCING

Know Where It Comes From.Know Who Checked It.

Responsible sourcing begins with visibility. We work with selected lab-grown diamond makers and wholesale partners, review every stone we choose, and use experienced jewelry workshops according to the needs of each design. Our aim is simple: fewer unknowns between the source and you.

Known Sources
01

Known Sources

We source from selected lab-grown diamond makers in India and established wholesale partners in the US rather than buying anonymously from an unknown chain.

Diamond-by-Diamond QC
02

Diamond-by-Diamond QC

A grading report is only one part of the decision. We also inspect the diamond itself for appearance, proportions, finish and overall suitability before it is approved for a piece.

Experienced Workshops
03

Experienced Workshops

Jewelry is produced through specialist workshops in Hong Kong, India or Los Angeles depending on the design. Our Hong Kong production partner brings more than 30 years of fine-jewelry manufacturing experience for luxury brands.

Information You Can Ask For

We believe sourcing should be explainable. If you want more information about a diamond, its grading report or how your piece will be made, ask us before you order.

BEYOND THE REPORT

Why We Still Inspect the Diamond

Grading information is important, but two diamonds with similar specifications can still look different in person. Our selection process therefore combines documentation with a visual quality check.

01

Report Matching

We review the available grading information and confirm that the selected stone corresponds to the diamond being supplied.

02

Cut & Proportion

We consider the proportions and overall face-up appearance rather than choosing solely from a specification table.

03

Visual Appearance

We look at the diamond itself for characteristics that may affect how attractive it appears when viewed normally.

04

Setting Suitability

The diamond is considered in relation to the intended jewelry design, including shape, dimensions and how it will sit in the setting.

WHERE YOUR JEWELRY IS MADE

The Right Workshop for the Right Piece

We do not believe every design has to be made in the same place. Production is assigned according to the type of piece, technical requirements and the strengths of the workshop.

HONG KONG

30+ Years of Fine-Jewelry Expertise

Our Hong Kong production partner brings more than 30 years of fine-jewelry manufacturing experience for luxury brands.

It is particularly valuable for development, custom work and pieces requiring close communication with our Hong Kong team.

INDIA

Close to the Diamond Supply Chain

India is an important center for diamond cutting, polishing and jewelry manufacturing. Selected pieces can be produced close to the source of the diamonds where the required capability is available.

LOS ANGELES

US Production When It Makes Sense

For selected designs or production requirements, we can work with specialist jewelry production in Los Angeles, allowing flexibility for US-focused pieces and projects.

OUR SOURCING STANDARDS

What Responsible Sourcing Means to Us

We take inspiration from the strongest practices in modern lab-grown diamond retail: clear origin disclosure, supplier accountability, independent grading where applicable, transparent claims and documented quality control.

01

Disclose Lab-Grown Origin

We clearly identify our laboratory-grown diamonds as lab-grown. We do not present them as mined or natural diamonds.

02

Use Independent Reports Where Applicable

Certified stones are supplied with the relevant independent grading information so important diamond characteristics are documented.

03

Work With Accountable Suppliers

We prefer partners who can provide clear product information and who are prepared to answer questions about the diamonds they supply.

04

Inspect Before We Approve

We do not rely only on a supplier listing. The selected diamond is reviewed before it is approved for your piece.

05

Avoid Vague Ethical Claims

Rather than calling every lab-grown diamond automatically “ethical” or “sustainable,” we explain what we can actually verify about our own sourcing process.

06

Keep Improving the Chain

Responsible sourcing is an ongoing process. As better supplier information and standards become available, we aim to make our own sourcing requirements more specific.

Traceability

TRANSPARENCY

Traceability Is About Reducing the Unknowns

No jewelry supply chain is completely simple. Diamonds can be grown, cut, graded, distributed, set and finished by different specialists. Our approach is to keep the chain as understandable as possible and to know who we are buying from and who is making the piece.

If a customer wants to understand the origin of a particular diamond or where a custom piece will be produced, we encourage that conversation before the order is placed.

WE PREFER

Specific, Explainable Information

Lab-grown origin. Known supplier route. Independent report where applicable. Diamond QC. Known production workshop.

×

WE AVOID

Blanket “100% Ethical” Claims

Complex global supply chains cannot be meaningfully explained by a single broad label without evidence behind it.

×

WE AVOID

Assuming Every Lab-Grown Diamond Is Equal

Source, manufacturing, grading and visual quality can vary. That is one reason our own selection and QC process matters.

Documentation

CERTIFICATION & GRADING

Documentation Supports the Story

For certified diamonds, the independent grading report provides a documented description of the stone and identifies its laboratory-grown origin. We use that report together with our own inspection rather than treating certification as a substitute for looking at the diamond.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

Sourcing Is One Part of Responsibility

Responsible sourcing and sustainability overlap, but they are not the same thing. Our sustainability approach also considers made-to-order production, longevity, honest environmental communication and aftercare.

RESPONSIBLE SOURCING FAQ

Good to Know

Where do Efi & Co's lab-grown diamonds come from?
We source from selected laboratory-grown diamond makers in India and established wholesale partners in the US. The exact route can vary depending on the diamond specification and availability.
Do you inspect every diamond?
Every diamond selected for an Efi & Co piece is reviewed as part of our QC process. We consider the available grading information as well as the actual appearance and suitability of the stone.
Where is Efi & Co jewelry made?
Depending on the design and production requirements, pieces may be produced through specialist jewelry workshops in Hong Kong, India or Los Angeles. Our Hong Kong production partner has more than 30 years of fine-jewelry manufacturing experience for luxury brands.

Certified diamonds are supplied with the relevant independent grading information. Availability and report type can depend on the individual diamond, so check the product or diamond details for the specific stone.
Does lab-grown automatically mean ethically sourced?
We do not make that blanket claim. Laboratory-grown diamonds avoid diamond mining, but their wider supply chain still involves energy, manufacturing, labor and materials. Our responsible-sourcing approach focuses on known suppliers, clear information and quality control.
Can I ask where my specific ring will be made?
Yes. If the production location matters to you, contact us before ordering and we can discuss the planned workshop for your design.

Yes. Contact us with the diamond or product you are considering. Where information is available, we can help you review the grading details and answer sourcing questions before you make your decision.
