BESPOKE AT EFI & CO

How Bespoke Works

Your idea is where the process begins. From the first conversation and quotation through CAD design, craftsmanship and final delivery, we guide you through each stage of creating a piece made specifically for you.

MADE AROUND YOU

You do not need to arrive with a finished design.

Bespoke jewellery can begin with almost anything: a photograph, a sketch, a diamond shape you love, an heirloom reference, a detail from another piece, or simply an idea you have been imagining.

We use those starting points to understand your taste, requirements and budget, then develop the concept into a piece that works beautifully as jewellery.

The process is collaborative. You will have the opportunity to review the design before it is made, so you can understand the proportions, stone placement and overall direction before production begins.

THE BESPOKE PROCESS

From your first idea to the finished piece.

Every commission is different, but the journey follows a clear series of stages so you always know what happens next.

01

Share Your Idea

Begin with our bespoke enquiry form or contact us directly. Tell us what you would like to create and share any reference photographs, sketches or inspiration you have.

Useful details can include jewellery type, preferred metal, diamond or gemstone, approximate carat size, budget and target completion date.

You do not need to know every detail before contacting us. We can help define the design with you.
02

Consultation & Quotation

We review your request and clarify the design direction, proportions, materials, practicality and budget.

Once the scope is clear, we prepare a quotation for the proposed piece.

If your design requires a centre diamond or gemstone, suitable stone options may be discussed or selected before the final quotation is confirmed.

03

Confirm Your Commission

When you are ready to proceed, a deposit confirms your bespoke commission and allows detailed design work to begin.

If a specific diamond or gemstone has been selected, payment may also be required to secure that stone and remove it from availability.

04

CAD Design & Rendering

Your concept is developed into a detailed three-dimensional CAD design so that the construction and proportions can be reviewed before the piece is made.

Depending on the project, this may include different viewing angles, measurements, stone placement and photorealistic renderings of the proposed design.

CAD is a design and construction preview. The final polished jewellery will naturally have a softer, more refined finish than a technical CAD image.
05

Review & Final Approval

Review the design carefully and let us know if adjustments are required within the agreed design direction.

Once you approve the final CAD, dimensions, stone details, metal and any engraving or personalisation, the design is considered ready for production.

Significant changes requested after final approval may require additional design work, cost or production time.
06

Final Payment

After the final design has been approved, the remaining balance is settled before your piece moves into production.

We will confirm the order details and expected production timeline with you before craftsmanship begins.

07

Crafted & Quality Checked

Your piece is individually made according to the approved design. Depending on the jewellery, production may involve precision casting, stone setting, hand finishing, polishing, engraving and final assembly.

Before leaving us, the finished jewellery is reviewed for its setting, finish, proportions and order specifications.

08

Secure Delivery

Once the piece has passed its final quality check, it is carefully packaged and prepared for delivery.

Your order is dispatched using a secure tracked service, with tracking information provided once it is on its way.

BEFORE YOU ENQUIRE

A few details help us understand your idea.

Send whatever information you already have. Even a simple reference image or short description is enough to start the conversation.

01

Inspiration

Upload photographs, sketches, screenshots or examples showing the proportions, setting style or details you are drawn to.

02

Diamond or Gemstone

Let us know your preferred shape, approximate carat size or specifications. If you are unsure, we can help source and compare suitable options.

03

Metal & Finish

Tell us whether you prefer yellow gold, white gold, rose gold, platinum or another available finish.

04

Budget

A comfortable budget range helps us recommend an appropriate combination of stone, material and design complexity.

05

Size

For rings, include your ring size if known. For other jewellery, approximate dimensions or preferred scale can be discussed during the design stage.

06

Target Date

If the piece is for a proposal, wedding, anniversary or other important date, let us know from the beginning so we can assess the timing before you proceed.

DESIGNED BEFORE IT IS MADE

Nothing enters production until the design is approved.

The CAD stage gives you the opportunity to understand the design before craftsmanship begins. It allows us to resolve proportions, construction and stone placement first, reducing uncertainty between the original idea and the finished piece.

WHICH SERVICE IS RIGHT FOR YOU?

Bespoke or Design Your Ring?

DESIGN YOUR RING

Choose from an existing setting.

Design Your Ring is ideal when you would like to select a diamond and pair it with one of our available engagement-ring settings.

You can choose the stone, setting, available metal and ring size without developing an entirely new design.

BESPOKE

Begin with your own idea.

Bespoke is better suited to a design that does not already exist in our available settings, or when you would like us to develop a piece around a particular reference, detail, stone or personal requirement.

The design is developed through consultation and CAD before it is individually made for you.

TIMING

How long does bespoke jewellery take?

Because every commission is different, there is no single production time that applies to every bespoke piece.

DESIGN

Timing depends on the complexity of the initial concept, stone sourcing and the number of design revisions required before final approval.

PRODUCTION

Once the CAD is approved, production time depends on the design, material, stone setting and specialist finishing required for your piece.

IMPORTANT DATE

If you have a proposal, wedding, anniversary or gifting date in mind, include it in your enquiry. We will advise whether the requested timeline is realistic before you commit.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Before starting a commission.

Do I need to know exactly what I want?
No. Some clients arrive with a detailed concept while others begin with a photograph, a favourite diamond shape or a few design references. Share what you have and we can help define the direction from there.
Can you source the diamond or gemstone for me?
Yes. If your design requires a centre stone, we can help source suitable lab-grown or natural diamonds and other available gemstones according to the design, specifications and budget.
Can I use a diamond or gemstone that I already own?
Potentially. Send us the stone details, measurements, certification where available and photographs. We will need to assess whether the stone is suitable for the proposed design and setting before confirming the commission.
Can I make changes after seeing the CAD?
Yes, the CAD review stage is specifically intended to allow the proposed design to be reviewed before production. Changes should remain within the agreed design direction. Major redesigns or changes after final approval may require additional cost and time.
Why is a deposit required?
The deposit confirms the commission and allows us to begin the detailed design and CAD development specifically for your project. Where a particular stone needs to be reserved, additional payment may be required to secure it.
When is the final balance paid?
The remaining balance is settled after final design approval and before the piece moves into production. We will confirm the details with you as part of the approval process.
Can you copy another jeweller's design exactly?
Reference images are useful for communicating the style, proportions or details you like. Our aim, however, is to use those references as a starting point and develop a design appropriate to your own commission rather than reproduce another designer's work exactly.
Is bespoke only for engagement rings?
No. Bespoke commissions can include engagement rings, wedding jewellery and other fine jewellery pieces, subject to the feasibility of the proposed design.
