Lab-Grown by Choice
We specialise in laboratory-grown diamonds: diamonds created through technological processes rather than extracted from the earth.
OUR APPROACH
Sustainability in jewelry is not one simple claim. It is a series of choices: what we source, how much we make, how clearly we communicate, and how long a piece is designed to be worn. At Efi & Co, we focus on making those choices more considered and more transparent.
We specialise in laboratory-grown diamonds: diamonds created through technological processes rather than extracted from the earth.
We believe customers should know what they are buying. Diamond origin, grading information and product details are disclosed clearly rather than hidden behind vague sustainability language.
Much of our jewelry is produced after an order is placed. This allows us to focus production on pieces that have already found an owner rather than building large quantities of finished inventory.
Longevity matters. We create fine jewelry intended for repeated wear, with aftercare guidance and support to help customers look after their pieces.
LAB-GROWN DIAMONDS
Laboratory-grown diamonds have essentially the same chemical composition, crystal structure and optical and physical properties as diamonds formed in nature. The difference is their origin: they are grown using controlled technological processes rather than mined.
Choosing lab-grown avoids diamond mining, but that does not mean production has no environmental footprint. Growing and manufacturing diamonds requires energy, and the impact can vary depending on how and where they are produced.
That is why we prefer a specific, transparent approach rather than describing every laboratory-grown diamond as automatically “sustainable.”
TRANSPARENCY FIRST
WHAT WE CAN SAY
Their origin is disclosed clearly, and certified stones are accompanied by the relevant grading information supplied with the diamond.
WHAT WE CAN SAY
Laboratory-grown diamonds are created in production facilities rather than recovered through diamond mining.
WHAT WE AVOID
Jewelry production still uses energy and materials. We do not believe responsible communication should pretend otherwise.
WHAT WE AVOID
Environmental performance depends on specific sourcing and production conditions. We prefer explaining the choices we actually make.
OUR SOURCING APPROACH
Responsible sourcing is not only about where a diamond was grown. It also means asking for clear product information, working with established suppliers and keeping the origin of laboratory-grown material transparent.
We identify laboratory-grown diamonds as laboratory-grown so customers can make an informed choice.
Where a diamond is sold with an independent grading report, the report provides additional information about the stone and its laboratory-grown origin.
We prioritise suppliers who can provide clear information about the diamonds and jewelry they supply rather than relying on unsupported claims.
We would rather give customers information they can evaluate than use environmental terms that cannot be meaningfully explained.
MADE TO ORDER
Many Efi & Co pieces are made after the customer has chosen the diamond, setting, metal and details. This lets us direct production toward actual orders instead of maintaining large volumes of finished jewelry in every possible combination.
Made-to-order production does not remove all waste, but it is a practical way for a smaller jewelry business to keep finished inventory more considered.
START A CUSTOM DESIGNLONGEVITY
A piece that is chosen carefully, cared for and worn for years has a different relationship with its owner than something treated as disposable.
Proportion, wearability and personal preference are considered so your jewelry feels right beyond a single season.
Customisation allows you to select the details that matter to you before production begins.
Proper cleaning, storage and setting checks help protect fine jewelry from avoidable damage.
RING CARE GUIDEIf a piece needs attention, contact us. We can advise on warranty, maintenance or repair options where available.
WARRANTY & AFTERCAREA WORK IN PROGRESS
There is no single material or production method that makes fine jewelry impact-free. Our responsibility is to keep asking better questions, improve the information available to customers and make practical improvements as our business and supply chain develop.
As more reliable supplier-level information becomes available, our goal is to make our sourcing and environmental communication more specific—not more vague.
